The SAS Rage Compound Bow has been manufactured by Man Kung, a company based in Taiwan. The company has been in the business for the past 30 years. However, the marketing of the product is done by Southland Archery Supply, a US based company.
Owing to its country of origin, the SAS Rage comes with quite a low price tag, however, a lot of people believe that if something is cheap, it must not be good. However, you will have to try out the SAS Rage for yourself to understand how good it is.
Here are some of its salient features, listed out for your benefit:
Salient Features of the SAS Rage Compound Bow
Design and Construction
The bow weighs a good 4.4 pounds, which is a bit on the high side for a standard compound bow. Though a higher weigh means higher stability and good shots for a pro, the weight can be a bit of a problem for those just starting to learn archery and who have not yet developed the necessary archery muscles. The bow has a pair of parallel positioned split aluminum limbs made of fiberglass, which makes it quite strong and durable to bending. The riser is constructed from machine aluminum, making it quite stable and durable. The cutouts on the riser give it nice sleek and modern look, while the grips are quite comfortable. The SAS Rage is a fairly small bow for its weight, with an axle to axle length of 35”. But it has a good fit and finish.
Noise and Vibrations
The SAS Rage does quite well in absorbing shocks while shooting, enabling you to shoot your target as close to your aim as possible. When you are bow-hunting out in the woods, you would need your bow to be completely noise free. A noisy draw can alert your prey and scare them away. This bow has been formulated to absorb noise and vibration, so that the pro archer, bow hunter or fish bow hunter can catch their targets easily. Another added convenience is the dampener, which allows for stabilizing the bow for a smooth shot that is also accurate.
However, if you are interested in further silencing your bow, you can tighten the screws up with Loctite, since loose screws tend to enhance overall vibrations in the bow. You could also try getting a stabilizer or string silencer.
Speed and Accuracy
Thanks to the dual eccentric cams, you can easily stop your draw at a convenient weight by just shifting the pin up or down a hole. The cam system also gives you a smooth draw, so that you can draw shots that are more accurate. The draw weight can be attuned in increments of 5 pounds and it can be incremented up to 70 pounds. This means you will have lots of force to pack a nice clean shot. The SAS Rage is thus perfect for target practice and hunting of small game. At a 70 pound draw, the bow can shoot up to a speed of 270 feet per second. Enough to make a small injury to your target.
As mentioned before, the SAS Rage allows you to freeze your draw weight according to your convenience. This can be done by simply moving the pin up or down a hole, till you find the draw weight that is most comfortable for you. The range of the draw weight is between 55 and 70 pounds. This is actually enough if you intend to use the bow for hunting or target practice.
Just like you can adjust the draw weight, you can also adjust the draw length. The range of the draw length is between 26 and 30 inches. Granted it is not a lot, but I feel this is quite enough to give your muscles some comfort while shooting. The axle to axle length of the SAS Rage is 35 inches, which makes it convenient for both smaller and larger sized archers to use.
The SAS pro package is purposely marketed with a limited set of accessories. According to the manufacturers, this is both to lower the price of the bow, making it more affordable for people and to give users, especially beginners the opportunity to develop and customize their accessories as per their needs, when the time comes. This will help them discover their instincts better, which will help them later on. Some of the provided accessories include:

But if you are just a beginner and have a smaller budget, this compound bow could be perfect for you. Don’t expect it to be very long lasting, but you can expect it to give you maximum joy while it lasts.
